Diversity World Café - Looking back

On November 6, the World Café on the audit took place in the conference room of the Welcome Center. Around 40 participants from all areas of the university—including students, academic and administrative staff, and people in management positions—discussed how the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg can be further developed as a diversity-sensitive university.

Four theme tables – many perspectives

The aim of the event was to explore the topics and ideas gathered in previous workshops in greater depth and to gain a better understanding of which aspects are still lacking in practice. To do this, the World Café was divided into four theme tables:

1. Diversity culture

2. Social background

3. Inclusion

4. Third mission

Participants rotated between the moderated theme tables in several rounds so that everyone could join in the discussion at each table and explore sub-topics and specific situations from everyday university life in greater depth. In a constructive and highly engaged atmosphere, participants openly discussed from different perspectives where good approaches already exist and where structural barriers or information gaps still remain.

What happens next?

We are currently working on evaluating and prioritizing the measures and activities that we have collected during the workshops held so far. Here are a few visual impressions of the intensive discussions during the World Café.
